چکیده
Weld residual stress and fracture behavior of 316L electron beam weldments, which are particular interest in power generation industry, were investigated this work. Two butt-weld joints manufactured stainless steel plates 6 mm 25.4 thicknesses. Three complementary methods used to measure the three orthogonal components weld coupons, tests conducted on single edge notched bending specimens extracted from different regions welds parent metals. The measurements showed a maximum value 450 MPa longitudinal direction, while it was less than 150 other two directions, revealing that our material, with chosen parameters, stresses biaxial. resistance weldment material similar, microstructure differences being more significant measured stresses. study suggests weldments not susceptible failure due their high ductility ability relieve through gross plasticity. Electron welding may therefore be suggested as reliable manufacturing technology for safety critical components.

Friction-corrosion of AISI 316L/bone cement and AISI 316L/PMMA contacts : ionic strength effect on tribological behaviour
Wear phenomena understanding of implants is a challenge: friction-corrosion of biomaterials, which constitute orthopaedic implants, is a significant issue concerning the aseptic loosening. This work aims at studying AISI 316L/bone cement friction which is a tribological problem related to hip joint cemented prostheses. This study focuses on the ionic strength effect on the tribological behaviou...
متن کاملModelling Residual Stress and Phase Transformations in Steel Welds
Mathematical modelling of welding phenomena is very complex: involving melt pool phenomena, solidification, weldability analysis, microstructure evolution in the heat affected zone, welding heat-flow simulation, electrical-thermal-mechanical simulation etc. Some interactions between these processes are included in Fig. 1. Each topic alone can be intellectually challenging and too hard to be inv...
متن کاملEffect of Microstructural Variations on the Tensile and Fracture Toughness Properties of Alloy 718 Welds
The effect of microstructural variations on the tensile and fracture toughness properties of Alloy 718 welds is reviewed. The microstructural parameters surveyed include heat treatment, longterm thermal aging and neutron irradiation. The two heat treatments that were characterized include the conventional heat treatment, per ASTM B637, and a modified heat treatment designed to improve the tough...
متن کاملResidual Stress Mapping in Welds using the Contour Method
The contour method, a newly-invented sectioning technique for residual stress measurement, has the potential to measure the cross-sectional residual stress profile of a weld in a simple and time-efficient manner. In this paper we demonstrate the capability of the contour method to measure cross-sectional residual stress profiles, which are compared with neutron diffraction measurements and show...
متن کاملBehavior of Concrete round Double Beam Fracture Toughness Test Specimens
Laboratory fracture toughness tests of concrete using wedge-loaded round double beam specimens with a length to diameter ratio of 2:1 show two distinctly different specimen behaviors. Either the crack remains in the plane of the notch, and a valid test result can be obtained, or there is lateral cracking around mid-length which invalidates the results. Results of a controlled study show that th...
